And on top of everything else...

I'm at the point in this pregnancy where I do not look "pregnant" I just look fat.

Ugh.

Trying not to freak out

So as I was leaving Dahlia's daycare this morning, there was a sign on the door that says "we have one confirmed case & one suspected case of H1N1." Awesome. I talked to one of the teachers and she said this just came up yesterday. I'm trying not to allow myself to get swept up in a panic, but it's easy to do when people are shrieking about it everywhere. We've been very vigilant about hand washing & all that, but with toddlers, it's hard to keep toys & things out of their mouths. Ugh. I didn't know whether or not I should take her back home with me and say screw work...or if I should leave her there. I still don't know. I'm sitting here wondering if what I did was the right thing. My doctor told me they don't even want me 'caring' for anyone who becomes sick with the flu. Great! So what would I do? Go live somewhere else? That is heartbreaking on too many levels.

Time to inflate the bubble around our house, I think. I am sure we have enough supplies to last us til spring...well, I need to get more diet coke but other than that.....

Info on INK

This film played at the Flyway Film Festival on Friday night. I really enjoyed it. I had a chance to talk with the filmmakers a lot and am really impressed with their talents. The production company is a husband & wife team out of Colorado who do almost *everything* on their films - from writing, directing, producing, special effects, composing, editing, costume & production design, etc. Really quite impressive.

I enjoyed this film. It's a sci-fi fantasy piece - I think this trailer is a bit *scarier* than the actual movie is. The effects & fight sequences are really quite good. It comes out on DVD in early November and will be available on Netflix, Blockbuster, etc so if you're in the mood for a low-budget ($250k) really well done, original film - check it out!

Charter-less

Well, I'm officially NOT on a Charter modem. Yup. We're giving up cable. Internet & TV. We've switched to Clearwire, which although we haven't found a PERFECT spot for the new modem, seems to be working pretty well. I have yet to unhook the digital cable box...not quite sure why I'm hanging on but I am. It's a security blanket or something. I don't watch much tv. Hardly any, actually and what I do find myself watching (okay, THE VIEW, occasionally) is on network television so who cares? I'm buying the 'old' HD TV from 4 Track AND we have our 2 digital converter boxes ready to go....when I get back from my weekend at the Flyway Film Festival...there shall be no cable.... No HGTV, no terrible MTV shows, no TLC, etc etc.....I think I'll survive. Thank god for Hulu! ha.

The Life of Riley - Behind the Scenes 1

To Genetic Test or Not to Genetic Test

....that is the question....

Now that I'm officially OLD, and pregnant, the Clinic really starts pushing meeting with a genetic counselor & having an Amnio. I don't know what to think. My gut says, no matter what the tests show (unless they showed that there was NO development, no spinal growth, etc) that we would proceed and what would be would be. Yesterday at my appt, the NP said that's all fine and well, but IF by chance you found out the baby had Downs we would treat YOU differently. We would give you more ultrasounds, look at the heart more (specifically) due to Downs babies having a higher risk of heart problems, etc etc.

After 35 the chance of having a miscarriage due to an amnio is LESS than the chance of your child having Downs. But STILL there is a chance. 1 in 1000 have a miscarriage; 1 in 220-250 have a Downs child. Both numbers are quite frankly terrifying to me.

When I talked to Steve about it, he was pretty certain. Why would you have that test if there was ANY chance of miscarriage. He is against doing it. I'm not too thrilled about the idea either.

And it's kind of a scary test, isn't it? Has anyone out there had one?

I'm 13 weeks right now which means we need to decide in the next month (or less) whether or not to do this. I'm leaning towards NOT but not 100% sure on that.

OH! And I'm SO excited (sarcasm...). I have to do my *first* Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) in 4 weeks. Ugh! That's 17 weeks! That's 11 weeks earlier than normal which means if I'm a BIG FAILURE (which I probably will be) I will once again be on a stupid restricted diet for Thanksgiving! I'm hoping that even if I do end up with GD again it won't show up until AFTER the holidays. It's bad enough I can't enjoy a glass of wine!

Boo! at the Zoo

We took Dahlia to Boo at the Zoo this weekend - thankfully we had decent weather for it. She didn't quite get the concept...but thought it was pretty cool that she got to carry around her pumpkin and people kept giving her stuff!

Productive Friday

I have a boatload of things that I want to accomplish today. So instead of writing this post at the end of day, chronicling what I've gotten done, I'm going to list my accomplishments right now...and then see how I do....

* get up & get Dahlia & I 'ready' for the day.

*unload dishwasher & dish drainer

*bake cookies

*clean back bedroom (for tomorrow's guests!)

*dust/vacuum downstairs

*prime 2 bedroom walls (behind non-connected radiators)

*paint quarter round for our bedroom

*decorate for Halloween

*run errands to grocery store & "Riley" apt

*start painting radiators

*sweep/vacuum upstairs

*make thank you cards for Halloween goodies from Gma & Gpa & Auntie Kathy

So, we'll see how I do...wish me luck!

So tired...

That is my theme lately...

So why am I sitting up wasting time on the computer? I have no idea.

Dahlia slept til 6:45 this morning at which time I said, 'no no no, it's too cold outside, let's snuggle' and we did - she slept til 8:30! It was awesome. That meant I got to sleep a little more, then get up....CAREFULLY....and spend a few minutes emptying our suitcase from the weekend, putting away her clean clothes and tidying a few other things in the bedroom. She wakes up in such a funny way. Her eyes one moment will be shut, then in another BAM wide awake. it's quite funny. She also took a 3 hour nap at Grandma B's this afternoon! I think she was tired from partying so hard at my cousin's wedding this weekend.

But back to me...by this afternoon as we were editing I was losing it. Totally so sleepy that I thought I would fall over in the chair. ugh. I can't wait til I hit trimester #2 so hopefully I get that energy boost. I could sure use it.

Otherwise, I may just hibernate all winter. That doesn't sound like a bad idea at all.

Dream Conversation

Do you ever have a dream where you have a wonderful conversation with someone...? Someone who has either passed away or who you haven't seen/talked to in a long time? Someone who you've been thinking about lately, who you have things you'd like to say to but would probably never (either due to fear of sounding corny or crazy)?

I usually have these conversations with my friend Sarah who passed away 2 1/2 years ago. I feel as though they are visits from her and I treasure them. I REALLY think that she is communicating with me from the other side and I am grateful for them.

Last night I had a long wandering conversation with an old friend. Someone I haven't TALKED to in at least 15 years. It was so much fun. We wandered all these weird dream landscapes and relived so many memories. I was able to tell him so many things I've wanted to tell him lately and it was just so nice to say everything 'out loud.' So much so that I'm sure this dream must've affected him too.

haha! I know, that is crazy, but I'm going to go with it. I know this is a conversation that is unlikely to be repeated in the 'real world' so I will accept it for what it is. A lovely dream that left me feeling very content this morning.

Also - 11 hours in bed is a really REALLY good thing.

Yikes

Got my first OB bill from appt #1....

It basically lists all the "professional" charges which includes 13 blood tests/urinalysis + of course the needle for said blood test.

Pending insurance......

*drumroll please*

$939!!

Good God, I hope Steve's insurance kicks ass on this one.

**note: this does not include the ultrasound I also had that day!

Netflix - today!

GOD ROCKED is officially available for rent on NETFLIX today.

PLEASE rent it! Please tell your friends or at least save it in your queue!! Write a few nice words about it, give it a good rating, even if you didn't like it all that much (ha!).

Thanks for helping to spread the word, it is much appreciated!

That's a Wrap!

We wrapped principal photography yesterday for THE LIFE OF RILEY! Whohoooo! It was a tough weekend - wind, WIND, WIND, rain, cold temps and of course 95% exterior locations. *sigh*....but we got it! We got our big 'action' sequence yesterday, we got our 'car accident' on Saturday, we trick-or-treated on Friday (thanks Julie!).

I am POOPED.

I am not working today (well, maybe just a little....)

Now off to ECFE with Miss Dahlia....

Happy Monday
