Transportation Night

Image
Last night was the annual "Transportation Night" for ECFE. A night when any kind of vehicle that can, shows up in a church parking lot for all sorts of young kids to crawl all over, into, etc. There was a firetruck (HUGE hit), a police car, an RV, a garbage truck, a canoe (on wheels!), a tow truck, a MN Power bucket truck, a zamboni, the Hazmat truck, a school bus (also - HUGE HIT!). There were supposed to be more but due to the tornadoes in N. Mpls, a lot of the vehicles were out of the area. It didn't matter. Except for the fact that we were promised ponies which were a no-show (& I was stupid enough to mention it to get Dahlia out the door), the night was a success! Dahlia's self-proclaimed favorite was the canoe. I'm so shocked....

My One Year Old

Image
August had his one-year well check-up today. He was in no mood for it. I think mostly because it was at 11:15 and he's usually ready for a nap by 11. Ugh. He was antsy and squirmy; didn't want his milk, didn't not want his milk; didn't want to be held, didn't want to sit in the stroller, DID want to crawl around on the floor everywhere. Big Sis was there to help and tried to keep him entertained with books, princesses and apple slices (begrudgingly on that last one). And my boy is good - weighing in at 17lbs 15oz (1st percentile!) - and boy getting his weight was a struggle. He was in NO MOOD at ALL to be on that scale! Fun!! At least he didn't pee on me. He's 28 1/2" tall (7th percentile). He's still a peanut but he's proportional which is a good thing. She heard a slight heart murmur but she said it was "innocent." I asked about the pooping thing (oh yeah, so every time he poops, he screams. It's terribly sad and awful. I'm t

Gardening & Bubbles

Image
It was so beautiful yesterday. We spent a couple hours out in the front yard, soaking up the sun & weeding the flower beds. The kids loved it. August 'shared' his new gardening tools with his sister & they both dug in the dirt (& um, one of them ate some dirt....) It was also a fun day for bubbles as the wind picked up in the afternoon. Again August shared his new birthday bubbles with his big sister & they flew all over the yard, across the street, into the sky.It was a glorious, beautiful day. I am so looking forward to more like it. Sadly today is overcast & rain is threatening so...our plans of planting flowers may have to be on hold. Mostly I'm excited that this summer both kids will be old enough to really enjoy being outside. And because August is so close to walking, his poor little knees won't take such a beating. Regardless, this summer promises to hold more fun that last summer - the summer of no sleep & a colicky baby. Bring

Spring

Finally a few nice days of spring-like weather in a row. I'm in heaven. I've been taking the kids for walks each day, getting outside as much as possible. And I'm having oh so much fun with the new camera.

Long Time

Image
Life has been busy - April just about killed me. Let's see...there was a girls' getaway weekend, a big project I've been working on for a friend's company; an art show that I had to make inventory for (which I sold none of); a 1st birthday party to plan for & have; Easter; business taxes to complete.....yeah, there was a lot of stuff. Oh and finishing up RILEY. Whew. I am glad it's May. Unfortunately, I just realized it was May & it's half over already. Ah well. We did get a new camera with our tax refund. It's awesome. I can't wait to play with it some more...Maybe that'll spruce things up on this blog! OH! And I forgot my Blogiversary! 7 years! Crazy.
