ECFE

Yesterday Dahlia & I went to an ECFE (early childhood family education) class. It was our first one. It's a parent-child class for 6-12 month olds. There were about 6 other kids there - most were 11 or 12 months old, one was 8 months old. Dahlia & the 8 month old were the only two that weren't mobile (I'm not complaining). I think Dahlia enjoyed seeing the other kids. We sat around and played with scarves, talked about eating habits and what the babies *should* be eating right now, learned a couple of signs, sang some and sang some songs. Dahlia actually started CLAPPING at the class! She's never done that before. It was really really cute.

Today she's very cranky. I fear that she has a cold. Steve's just getting over one and Dahlia's been SUPER cranky since yesterday afternoon and she has a runny nose (clear but runny). *sigh* I am dreading a cold for her (and me!) because I have a big shoot this weekend - two overnights (ugh). Oh and the other fun thing? Dahlia hasn't slept through the night in a week. I'm so tired and I've given in to bringing her into bed with me more times than I can count.

Yay, ECFE!!!!!! We are total ECFE graduates at this house. Love, love, love it. My mom used to teach it in Austin. I'm glad you guys had fun!

A pandemic game time & conversation (via Zoom)   Well, we're about 13 months into this pandemic and I should've been back blogging then. I mean, I was home an awful lot. I could've done it. Penguin Shenanigans

For our 2020 Winter Reading program, there wasn't an overall theme. I decided to create my own theme. And the Penguins took over the library! I printed out real-to-life sized photographs of penguins...an Emperor, a Fairy, a Chinstrap and a Galapagos Penguin to be exact. I put them on the walls in one area. My hope was that kids would stand next to them and measure up - and they sure did! It put a smile on my face every time. Above each penguin I included some facts. Usually where they lived, what they ate and any quirky stuff about them. It's always great to be able to provide a little learning opportunity along the way. We also included penguin voting. I always think it's fun to add a pre-math activity when I can. I made 4 buckets with a photo of each of the aforementioned penguins. and IT'S A GIRL!! I'll do a proper introduction later and the whole story and everything but in the meantime, we had a baby girl. 2:15pm on Friday afternoon (I posted at, what? 10;30am? You do the math!!). Her name is Dahlia Marie and she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs even. 19 1/4" long and so incredibly gorgeous (although, I might be a wee bit biased). The birth was the most amazing experience I've ever been through and my mind is still, well, blown, quite frankly. I am so tired though...time for a quick nap before we try to feed again.
