Underwater Adventures

Last Sunday when we were in the Cities, we decided to take on Underwater Adventures. We went with my parents, the Johnson 5 (minus my sister) & my sister-in-law Allison & her son Anders.

It was SO COOL! I had never been there before & had a great time! I've often heard Peder & Sarah talk about it so was anxious to check it out. The weather was crappy outside so it was perfect to enter the darkness & see all the cool creatures living underwater.

I loved the "tunnel." What a great concept! It was amazing how up close & personal you could be with fish, sharks (oh my - the teeth!), huge HUGE turtles, etc. I loved the atmospheric music. I could've stayed there for hours, meditating.

The sea horses were also VERY cool. They're so cute. Dahlia really liked them. August loved seeing everything overhead in his car seat. Pefect!

We went through at the beginning of the day & at the end of the day (what a great concept!) & of course Dahlia had to go potty at exactly the same time (the jelly fish exhibit). As we were rushing through the rest of the sights the first time, she exclaimed "Oh they're beautiful," with a voice full of wonder. It was pretty cool.

After we got through the jelly fish, the gift shop & the play area (one of Dahlia's favorite spots), we all disgustedly rejected our VERY ugly picture with Sharky & we went on to find lunch. It's hard to wrangle 5 - 2 1/2 to 3 year olds, a baby & 6 adults! It's amazing we all ended up eating at the same table - haha!

I'm sure we'll return. It was a really fun day (& we got discount tickets through my Mom's work! yay!)

Great pictures and I'm sure you'll remember the sights for a long time. When I got married we honeymooned in Gatlinburg, TN and had the pleasure of going through Ripleys Aquarium which also had a tunnel that got you up close and personal with the big fish. We were amazed as well.

I sometimes think we go so often, we take it for granted. I'm glad the kids appreciated it.

You DO Know that you can sleep overnight in that tunnel, right? I mean, for a price....

Sleep with the Sharks

What is a tunnel overnight?
Bring your sleeping bag and join us for a 14-hour adventure that includes a guided aquarium tour, a Behind-the-Scenes exclusive tour, hands on educational activities, a pizza party, breakfast in the morning and a night of sleeping in the tunnel with fish swimming overhead!

Should we bring a sleeping bag?
Yes. We will provide each guest with a 1” sleeping mat. Please bring with you a pillow and sleeping bag. Mattresses and cots are not allowed.

Do I have to attend the sleep over with my child?
We recommend 1 adult with every 10 children. Please call group sales with further questions 952.853.0612

Should I make advanced reservations?
We recommend calling 45 days in advance as this program fills up quickly.

We're looking for somewhere fun to take the kids while we're in town for Christmas...thanks for the tip! Annika especially loves seahorses, and then maybe we can compound the joy by going to Rainforest Cafe for lunch.
