I'm not ready for this....

The other day at the office, I had Dahlia with me. She was walking (!!) all over the place and at one point got her changing pad, a diaper and laid down on said changing pad...

She had a poopy diaper.

I've told several friends about this and they all say "she's ready for potty training."

I, however, am not.

ACK...

(I have no intention of rushing into any sort of potty training...I will go with the flow (no pun intended) and if she's ready, she's ready. My main goal is to not stress out about it over the next couple of years...wish me luck - ha!)

I heartily disagree that it means she's ready to potty train. At 18 months Bridget pooped in the potty but a year later she still is not ready for potty training. She refuses to sit on the potty but she's understanding it more every day.

I guess you could start taking her in with you and telling her what you're doing, but she is not ready to sit on the potty yet.

You can relax for a while.

I disagree as well. Dialogue time, sure...active training, no way!!

wow- i was just schooled in how long i will be changing diapers.

18 months sounds like it might be early for potty-training.

but 18 months of changing diapers also seems so LOOOOONG!

(i have so much to learn)

Hahaha! This makes me laugh. She knows that she's uncomfortable and she knows how you can fix it for her. Who knows? She might be ready. She might not be. All you can do is introduce her to it and see. My friends' 18 month old was TOTALLY ready. But she's got older brothers and sisters and wanted to be just like them. You'll just have to see.

Amen to Donna. We have had the same experience. We introduced the potty that early and now we are paying the price. It is back in the closet and we are working on pulling up and down pants instead. We'll try again later.
