I hate it when that happens

I just found out from commenter Jonathan (thanks for stopping by!!) that the lead actor (Ulrich Muehe) in THE LIVES OF OTHERS passed away recently. Seriously - rent this film. It is amazing. And yes, the fact that is a directorial debut sort of blows my mind. I am saddened, however, that I will not get to see any new performances by Mr. Muehe.

About 10 years ago (maybe a few less...?) I started watching the BritCom series FATHER TED which I absolutely adored. I fell in love with the quirkiness of "Ted" and loved his antics and his inappropriate behavior and everything that went along with it. As I had finished devouring everything I could of his on DVD I learned that he had already passed away. I remember sitting at my desk at work and crying because I had been so affected by this man, and yet he was already gone.

It sucks when you get to appreciate things...and yet they're already past.

I plan on using that Netflix coupon you gave me tonight and getting that movie first thing!

I should've done this a year ago....

A pandemic game time & conversation (via Zoom)   Well, we're about 13 months into this pandemic and I should've been back blogging then. I mean, I was home an awful lot. I could've done it. Penguin Shenanigans

For our 2020 Winter Reading program, there wasn't an overall theme. I decided to create my own theme. And the Penguins took over the library! I printed out real-to-life sized photographs of penguins...an Emperor, a Fairy, a Chinstrap and a Galapagos Penguin to be exact. I put them on the walls in one area. My hope was that kids would stand next to them and measure up - and they sure did! It put a smile on my face every time. Above each penguin I included some facts. Usually where they lived, what they ate and any quirky stuff about them. It's always great to be able to provide a little learning opportunity along the way. We also included penguin voting. I always think it's fun to add a pre-math activity when I can. I made 4 buckets with a photo of each of the aforementioned penguins. and IT'S A GIRL!! I'll do a proper introduction later and the whole story and everything but in the meantime, we had a baby girl. 2:15pm on Friday afternoon (I posted at, what? 10;30am? You do the math!!). Her name is Dahlia Marie and she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs even. 19 1/4" long and so incredibly gorgeous (although, I might be a wee bit biased). The birth was the most amazing experience I've ever been through and my mind is still, well, blown, quite frankly. I am so tired though...time for a quick nap before we try to feed again.
