Babies on the Brain

I have not been posting much because of several reasons. One of which is because I have BABIES on the brain! Most notably my future nieces/nephews/combo platter but also because of my cousin who's due in less than a month (wait, my cousin's wife...my cousin-in-law?), my cousin (actual) due in April, my cousin (actual) due in June, my cousin-in-law due in July, my friends due between May and August!!!! Holy Schnickeys! It's a veritable baby explosion around here!!

In other busy-ness....it's the end of the period/year end at work so I'm busy with lame stuff there; I have lawyers to meet with next week regarding my future (sounds ominous doesn't it?) and I have ideas bubbling out of my head for what I want to do with the house, crafting, knitting, baby showers (!), cooking, baking, resolutions, book lists, movie lists and babies of my own.

Whew! There's a lot to think about! I'm trying to come up with some good "goals" (not "resolutions" poey) and hopefully I will post them soon. But for now I need to get moving on finishing a Christmas present (doh) and then going to bed. Tomorrow I have to get up early (for me) and chop a few things and throw them in the crock pot before I go to work. I'm feeling like popping in a movie...maybe CASABLANCA or THE LIMEY or...I don't know...I'll have to go see what I haven't watched in a while.

I should've done this a year ago....

A pandemic game time & conversation (via Zoom)   Well, we're about 13 months into this pandemic and I should've been back blogging then. I mean, I was home an awful lot. I could've done it. Penguin Shenanigans

For our 2020 Winter Reading program, there wasn't an overall theme. I decided to create my own theme. And the Penguins took over the library! I printed out real-to-life sized photographs of penguins...an Emperor, a Fairy, a Chinstrap and a Galapagos Penguin to be exact. I put them on the walls in one area. My hope was that kids would stand next to them and measure up - and they sure did! It put a smile on my face every time. Above each penguin I included some facts. Usually where they lived, what they ate and any quirky stuff about them. It's always great to be able to provide a little learning opportunity along the way. We also included penguin voting. I always think it's fun to add a pre-math activity when I can. I made 4 buckets with a photo of each of the aforementioned penguins. I figured it out....

and IT'S A GIRL!! I'll do a proper introduction later and the whole story and everything but in the meantime, we had a baby girl. 2:15pm on Friday afternoon (I posted at, what? 10;30am? You do the math!!). Her name is Dahlia Marie and she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs even. 19 1/4" long and so incredibly gorgeous (although, I might be a wee bit biased). The birth was the most amazing experience I've ever been through and my mind is still, well, blown, quite frankly. I am so tired though...time for a quick nap before we try to feed again.
