Who needs cable?

Fancast rocks and I can watch all the mindless television I want that would normally only be able to be viewed if you have cable. I watch everything on the computer anyway! sweet. Also - I dig Hulu & SnagFilms . Check them out if you're looking for some free entertainment & documentaries!

4. Disconnected

Today is the day that Charter (finally) comes and disconnects our cable TV. It will be a good thing - it will save us money. We don't really watch cable anyway. Last night was the first time in....AGES...that Steve & I watched TV together, and we watched V which is on ABC. Hopefully I will not miss it. Now, if only I could get my laptop & TV to talk to each other then I could watch Netflix on demand on the big screen!

Charter-less

Well, I'm officially NOT on a Charter modem. Yup. We're giving up cable. Internet & TV. We've switched to Clearwire, which although we haven't found a PERFECT spot for the new modem, seems to be working pretty well. I have yet to unhook the digital cable box...not quite sure why I'm hanging on but I am. It's a security blanket or something. I don't watch much tv. Hardly any, actually and what I do find myself watching (okay, THE VIEW, occasionally) is on network television so who cares? I'm buying the 'old' HD TV from 4 Track AND we have our 2 digital converter boxes ready to go....when I get back from my weekend at the Flyway Film Festival...there shall be no cable.... No HGTV, no terrible MTV shows, no TLC, etc etc.....I think I'll survive. Thank god for Hulu! ha.

What's going on PBS?

Yesterday at 7:30 there was some new animated dinosaur show on (instead of Dahlia's BELOVED Barney) - that's all fine and well, but the audio wasn't working and all we could hear was background music/sound effects, none of the dialogue.. At first I thought maybe it was supposed to be dialogue free....but no, just a technical issue. Today at 7:30 (my coveted shower time, usually where Dahlia is entertained by said purple dinosaur) there was an episode of "Wishbone" on which is WAY too old for Dahlia. WAY too old. (great, just saw an ad for Barney - now on at 12:30pm every day...oh THAT'S convenient!). Anyway - I'm hoping they haven't messed with the Sesame Street schedule....that would just be too much!

Hyper for Hulu!

Okay, I was recently turned on to Hulu and I am already addicted. I may be kissing my cable subscription goodbye sooner than I think!

28. Disappointment

Apparently I tuned in an hour (?) late to watch the ANTM finale tonight. What the hell was I thinking? I didn't even check what time it was on. How disappointing. Ah well, a friend told me a spoiler (gee thanks!) today anyway so I'm pretty sure it would've been anti-climatic (still don't tell me!). I will watch on YouTube hopefully tomorrow. Sheesh.

16. Learnng all sorts of new things...

As yesterday was my first parental Baby Gap visit, this morning is my first parental Sesame Street viewing with Dahlia. it's like crack for her. She's pretty much not interested in things on TV but show her some Big Bird or Elmo and she goes NUTS! I haven't watched SS for years (always have loved it, always have dreamt of being ON it) and I was so impressed that during the "family" video they showed all different families including ones with two Moms and two Dads. Nice! Way to be progressive! I'm sure I'm behind the ball on that but I still think it's very cool. Pretty much anything that comes out of the Sesame Workshop, Jim Henson Co. and the like will be okay for viewing in our household.

Who Is....

Image
I may be a HUGE nerd, but damn I love this show. LOVE IT. It is the only show I actually submitted a tape to (to be a contestant) when it was originally on back in the early '00s. I was so excited to hear that it was going to start again. And yes, I watched it. And it was good. WHO IS...THE MOLE?

Guess What I'm Going to See Tonight?!?!

Image
I'm so excited!!! My friend Sarah is on her way to Duluth from Minneapolis so we can check it out together. We've been planning this for months! I see a martini in my future. Whohoo!

ANTM Cycle 10

Why didn't anyone tell me that America's Next Top Model started again last Wednesday?? Don't you know I am in bed before primetime these days? Okay - that's not totally true but almost! Thank goodness for you tube !

Oh these hormones....

The belly grows daily and is starting to amaze me. I think in the last week it's really "popped out" as it just seems huge (to me) and it's the first time random strangers have remarked on my pregnancy. My family this weekend (at the triplets baptism - OH MY GOD - SO CUTE) declared that there's no way I will go 2 more months. We'll see about that! I hurt - now walking hurts, quite a bit. Everything's sore. Standing, sitting, walking - it's all becoming less fun. *sigh* And the hormones are reemerging (did they ever leave?) and I'm getting weepy. Just now I cried at an episode I'D ALREADY SEEN of "Tori & Dean Inn Love" - yes, I happen to watch that show. Which surprises even me....but it was the season finale of the first season...where Tori goes into labor and gives birth to her son. Puddle, puddle, puddle. I am so lame.

In the Womb

Image
Steve & I caught most of National Geo's In the Womb tonight (a little different than ANTM, don't you think?). We had seen the In The Womb: Multiples last January after finding out my sister was having triplets. That was mind-blowing then...but this was WAY more mind-blowing because....well, obviously - there is a baby IN MY WOMB! It is amazing to see & hear about the development, to learn about fetal surgery (!!) and hey, who doesn't want to see a human birth at 9:50pm on a Wednesday night? (ay yi yi....). Steve & I both started talking to the baby (ours, that is) during the show. There was one part where it said the fetus will start responding to the mother's voice. I said "hello baby, this is your Mama" and BAM - a kick right where my hand was on my belly. It was awesome. Mind-blowing, but very awesome.

Confession

Image
Lately I have become slightly obsessed with the tv show America's Next Top Model . I don't know where it came from or how it started but I found myself watching the previous "cycles" on MTV's on Wednesday nights over the past few weeks, and catching up on the most recent season online...and then finding the OTHER cycles on YouTube....it's really quite bizarre! It got so bad for a while that I was DREAMING about Tyra Banks! At one point I was auditioning for the show (by doing a figure skating routine - I don't know, it was a dream and very weird) and it was "so beautiful" it made Miss Tyra cry. Oh dreams are funny. Anyway - I am not really into fashion (although now my interest has been piqued although I am still style-less. pooh) and I think some of it is SO ridiculous and silly & a little to serious for what it is, but I enjoy watching it SO MUCH. Tonight is the season, sorry, "Cycle" 9 Season Premiere. 7pm (CDT) on CWTV (that...

The Office, Season 2

Image
Michelle got me hooked on the Brit version of THE OFFICE a while back. Yesterday I received Season 2 in the mail thanks to NetFlix....last night I watched the entire season (okay, only 6 episodes long but still!). It was not quite as good as the first season but I enjoyed it oh so much. If you haven't all ready, check it out sometime.
