22. Dream

I had a dream last night that I was playing ping pong (but on a court more like tennis) with Tom Cruise. I'm pretty sure he was cheating.

Dead Bird

Beavis brought me a dead bird while I was packing up Dahlia's clothes in her room. Dahlia was happily playing/screeching in her crib and I was reminiscing about when Dahlia was small enough to wear a particular hat, onesie, sleeper, etc. I turned to walk out the door and grab another box when there in the threshold is a dead sparrow! I screeched. Said..."uh, good job, Beavis" and ran down the hall to call Steve. Logical eh? He asked if I was going to put it outside and I said - of course! Then when I tried to flip it into an empty box, it was all wiggly (not alive just soft) and started LEAKING. At that point I put the box over the bird and gave up on that task. I had the baby, Steve can deal with the dead birds - fair trade-off, right? I then also realized that the hallway is FILLED with little gray feathers. Ugh. I'm so grossed out.

Dear St. Joseph,

Have you heard of this ? I had never until a couple of weeks ago when my Mom mentioned that we should bury St. Joseph in our yard to help sell our house. Apparently my parents did this (!) when they were selling their house and it worked! (interpret how you will...). So, needless to say, there is a new little plastic statue of a Saint somewhere underground in our yard. Can't hurt, right? So, Dear St. Joseph, Please help us to sell our house so we can move into our new house. We'd love for some nice young family or single person to move into our cute house which we've loved very much and are growing out of. Thanks Me

Weekend Shoot

Image
We had a couple good production days this weekend even though the weather didn't cooperate 100%. On Saturday we shot on some land at a "friend of a friend's" - that does some target shooting - exactly what we needed! It's a unique place with a hillside waterfall thing, a cinder block "castle," a lake, lots of guns (!) and gargoyles. Don't worry - they shot blanks. And we all wore hearing protection.

Amonia (sic) and Jello

While checking my (pathetic. meager.) blogstats tonight, I came across that as a referral. Yes, someone got to my site by searching for "Amonia & Jello." That is very weird.

Whoops!

Ah the clumsiness associated with pregnancy has begun... Well it began a while ago. After a weekend shoot I was unloading our craft services supplies (food, paper plates, beverages, etc) and was dealing with two rather full crockpots of creamy wild rice soup which didn't get eaten (grrrr). I had them both on my counter and planned on just dumping them out because really? What was I going to do with 30 servings of wild rice soup that the smell of made me a little queasy? As I picked up one crock pot, I caught the 2nd one with the cord or my hand or something and I ended up dropping the entire thing on the floor of my kitchen. Luckily MOST of the soup stayed confined to the crockpot (well, and the floor) but I did get quite a bit of auxiliary splatter on my baseboards, cupboards, nooks & crannies underneath cupboards, oven door, dripping into the over drawer etc. Boy that was fun. Next last week I was dishing up some pork chops & potatoes that I had made for dinner and prompt...

Question...

Does anyone have any donut holes? Seriously....

The Power of Suggestion

The other night Steve was attending at meeting for a local Trails Alliance here in Duluth. It was at a Cafe. When he got home he mentioned that he was going to have a glass of wine (he MUST finish the box in the fridge downstairs, right? pooh) and that he hadn't ordered any beer or anything with his dinner as some of the other Alliance people had. And then he said "some people ordered malts." Within 2 minutes I had the blender, the malt powder, the milk & ice cream out and we were making malts. mmmmmmmmm, so much better than wine (for now). :)

Thoughts on the Circus

Image
I went to the Circus tonight with my mentee, Miss M. I have some thoughts.... 1) I don't think I can go to circuses any more. 2) Monkeys, albeit incredibly adorable while dressed up, are SUPPOSED to jump from high thing to high thing in the air. It's not that "amazing" or "outstanding." Cute? Yes. But it also makes me sad that they're jumping from pole to pole instead of treet to tree. 3) All of the lovely ladies of Eastern Europen descent were not only the aerial artists (some of which is pretty cool, others just kind of sad...) also manned the "rides" before, at intermission and after the circus. Spinning by your neck one minute, placing a giant snake around a patron's neck for a $7 polaroid the next. Also leading tiny ponies & air brushing "tattoos" on people's faces. 4) The big cats were gorgeous but also looked TOTALLY pissed off to have Yurgey snapping that whip at them. I don't blame them. 5) During the metal sp...
