Weekend Update

Image
This weekend went too fast, as usual, but what can ya do... On Friday I found out that not only does Dahlia have a cold, but she also has an ear infection in both ears! Ugh! She's now on her first dose of antibiotics. Hmph. I think she's starting to feel better, although yesterday she was CRABBY. So.....who knows. Hopefully it'll continue to get better. We went for a hike in Hartley which was nice. I hadn't hiked that section of the Superior Hiking Trail for quite a while! Saturday we biked down to watch the marathoners come in. It takes about 5 minutes for us to get to London Road where we watched most of the half-marathoners come in, the wheelchairs and the elite runners. It was HOT out. I felt really bad for those runners. It hasn't been hot here YET and that was the day. They considered canceling the race because of the temps & humidity...but they temps leveled off and the humidity dropped. The half-marathoners took the brunt of it. It was cool to see the el...

Update

Dahlia seems to be doing just fine today. I'm the only one stressing out I guess. I have been using "the booger sucker-outer thing" (okay bulb syringe) and BOY she loves that! Her nostril is just barely big enough to fit it! I also took her temp for the first time today. I thought it would be more traumatic than it was. She didn't seem to notice or care when I stuck it in her bum (ever so gently!). No fever. Just a paranoid Mama. I picked up some saline drops at the pharmacy but am scared to use them! I'm such wimp. I'll wait til Steve gets home! Hopefully we'll both get more sleep tonight. I could surely use it. I forgot to mention that yesterday I went to the dentist. UGH. I am an 'anti-dentite' but go religiously every 6 months because the thought of something going WRONG in my mouth freaks me out more than the general discomfort & dislike I have for the dentist office. Michelle's Mom (hi Virginia!) was kind enough to come over and watc...

Roller. Coaster.

Image
I am effectively on the post-baby roller coaster of emotions. It's insane and I know it's happening but sometimes get swept up in the ups and downs anyway. Today, for instance I have been at times pleasantly content and things are going smoothly and I can actually think about the future in a very positive light or I can be holding Miss Dahlia on the floor in the living room bawling my eyes out because clearly I am not a good enough mother to have such a precious little daughter. It's exhausting. The feeding thing continues to be a challenge. I'm coming up on my 4th day of Reglan and haven't seen an improvement in my milk supply. *sigh* I go in to the LC again tomorrow to have Dahlia weighed & checked out. She has been HUNGRY for days. I can nurse her, supplement her (with either breastmilk or formula and she will be HUNGRY - frantically HUNGRY again in an hour. I am hoping it's because of a growth spurt or something. I hate to see her so agitated all the tim...

Pooped

We're back after a few days away....visiting my family in Austin (the triplets are so yummy I could eat them), visiting Steve's extended family at a reunion full of Swedish foods & lots of family, visiting REI to spend some wedding money (!!!) which we still didn't. Oh well. Tomorrow I'm sleeping in, shooting an interview, picking up a Christmas tree and probably that's about it!

Back

Ah back after two days with my family. It was a fun time...although Friday night was COLD. We camped at my aunt & uncle's house (lovely hugely wooded property near Longville, MN) and it was COLD COLD COLD. Frost on the cars before we went to bed. I slept with two sleeping bags & a blanket but my face was cold. Saturday golfing was fun - I had a great team and played awesomely! I think pregnant golfing is the way to go. I think I'm slower, more careful & my center of gravity has changed. Hmmm..... my team tied for 3rd place at -9 under par. Thank GOD I didn't have to take home the chicken trophy. Today was much warmer & quite lovely. We had a beautiful drive back to Duluth and when we got here it was QUITE warm. I washed Frances (my car) with a little help from Steve & then we scrubbed an area rug in preparation for a small human type person who might like to lay on the carpet instead of on the hardwood floors (and a blanket of course). Then I touched up ...
