17. Long Night Ahead

I'm off to work on the sound design for the film that we're premiering IN TWO DAYS. Yeah, nothing like doing things LAST F'ING MINUTE. That's the way we roll apparently at 4 Track Films. Ay yi yi. There were some issues so this just came up in the past couple hours and let me just stress my attitude of being TOTALLY THRILLED about staying up...all night? Hahahahaha. I usually don't make it past 9:30. I'm dreading this...it's also my very least favorite part of the process. Wheeeeee!

Well SOMEBODY'S getting a good present this year....

thanks to ME. Hmph. Just found an $899 fraudulent charge on my credit card for a place in Oregon selling sailing supplies... WTH. That pisses me off. I'm very careful with credit card info (although I do shop online now and then) and we burn everything with an important number on it. I'm highly annoyed by this. Of course the vendor's phone just rings & rings and then goes to an answering machine even though this is during "business hours." Luckily the people at the credit card were nice about it, reversed the charge and canceled my card. I'm still irritated that people have to suck so much. Did they think I WOULDN'T notice an extra $899 on my bill? Ha! Yeah, right.

Blow Out

On my way from visiting the world's cutest niece & nephews to my father-in-law's cabin yesterday, a lovely 3-hour-drive on mostly 2 lane highways, my right rear tire blew out! Well, more like cracked and disintegrated...which was unnerving enough. I had recently (within an hour) put air in the tire (to the correct PSI) and was taking it easy just to make sure when suddenly the car pulled to the right and I thought, Hmmmm, that doesn't feel right. I better check that tire. I pulled over on the shoulder (luckily I was on a 4 lane divided highway at this point somewhere in Wisconsin) and sure enough - my tire was smoking & crumbling (!) right there on the roadside. I called Steve who was at the cabin already and barely had a signal and told him what happened. While on the phone a mini-van pulled up behind me with a family in it. They had seen my tire go, gone past me, turned around and returned to help me! The mom & daughter helped me unload my car (filled with a b...

Pisser

The other day - I got a $21 parking ticket for being at a meter "too long." Not being at an "expired" meter (as I am diligent in setting my cell phone alarm and plugging the damn thing. [pauses to set cell phone alarm] So on the ticket it says there had been 'complaints' that I had been at that meter too long? WTF? I have no where to park! Since my building that I work in is under major construction I have to park on the street and the meters are one-hour meters but I keep plugging them. Have been doing this for a month with no problem. I think because this particular meter was close to the front door (hallelujah!) the contractors (who are working here and hogging up the basement parking AND the close meters) got irritated and "complained" to Lovely Rita the Meter Maid. Anyway - whatever. I moved my car. I found a spot that had NO METER (score!) due to a hotel recently completed and parked there happily for two days without paying a cent. Then I we...

Pfffffft

I just got a parking ticket, dammit.

So far? It's a wash...

Well, my relaxing destressing get-things-done-around-the-house weekend is for shit. Got up "early" this morning (not as early as we would've liked) as it was supposed to be HOT today (and it is). Our plan to take an "early" morning hike to get that out of the way and feel good about ourselves off the bat. Then come home - Steve would mow before the major heat hit and I would run my pukey errands. Well, one thing led to another - inviting Steve's Mom & SO, his aunt, etc no one could decide what to do, what time, people were running errands, maybe later? which sucked up a whole bunch of time. We decided to take a bike ride in the Superior Municipal Forest (Superior, WI) instead. On our way there we stopped by Northwest Outlet as Steve would like me to get a SIGG water bottle instead of the Nalgene that I use now - due to the chick pea. They had some but they were spendy and not cute enough (ha!). Then we started chatting with a worker there - very nice, su...
