Survival



My Aunt Charlotte (my Dad's oldest sister) was in a pretty bad rollover car accident yesterday morning. She was driving back to California after a visit to MN for her Granddaughter's & nephew's (my first-cousin-once-removed & my cousin) graduation & to spend time wiht family. On the way home, near Sioux Falls, SD she fell asleep at the wheel, over-corrected & then rolled.

Very very lucky she survived.

She has numerous injuries, including- broken ankles, leg(s?), broken ribs, broken collar bone, dislocated shoulder, numerous lacerations, skin on one hand nearly gone....more, but I just don't know quite what.

It could be worse, there have been no signs of brain injury, but holy cow, this will take a while to recover from.

So very sorry to know about the accident with so many injuries but seems there should be a full recovery even if it will take time. Will be praying for her and the family. I use to have to take caffine tablets when I drove on long commutes in the afternoon to keep from going to sleep. Dangerous especially when you are alone.

Wow! That smashed car looks terrible! I'm continuing to pray for your Aunt Charlotte. She has a long recovery ahead of her.

and IT'S A GIRL!! I'll do a proper introduction later and the whole story and everything but in the meantime, we had a baby girl. 2:15pm on Friday afternoon (I posted at, what? 10;30am? You do the math!!). Her name is Dahlia Marie and she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs even. 19 1/4" long and so incredibly gorgeous (although, I might be a wee bit biased). The birth was the most amazing experience I've ever been through and my mind is still, well, blown, quite frankly. I am so tired though...time for a quick nap before we try to feed again.

Well, the time has come. After 6 1/2 years (!?) Naturally Optimistic will be going private at the start of the new year.
