Bayfield Apple Festival

Steve & I hadn't been to Applefest for 6 years! That was the first fall we were together. So it was time to return. The weather was gorgeous & it is always good to get the kids out of the house on such a beautiful day.

It started off great - BOTH kids were ASLEEP in the car within 10 minutes. That NEVER happens. Especially with August (that kid just never sleeps anywhere, except perhaps outside...). Steve & I were actually able to have a nice, quiet, long overdue conversation. The scenery was beautiful. It was really very very nice.

After finding parking (ugh) we headed down to the festivities. Our fist order of business was finding some apple crisp or pie. The line was long but the wait was WELL worth it! The apple crisp torte was fresh & hot! The ice cream & caramel toppings were delicious.

We spent the afternoon wandering around, looking at the booths & people watching. August & Dahlia were very well behaved. Thank God for the double stroller! Dahlia requested popcorn - we got kettle corn which was the WRONG thing. That was 'icky' & she wanted the "other popcorn" Luckily one of the carnival booths had regular popcorn!

Dahlia rode the merry-go-round for the first time (with Steve) but she absolutely refused to look at me for a photo. Hmph.

We ended the day at the festival with Apple brats (for us) & a hot dog for her...On the way back to Duluth we stopped along the South Shore of Lake Superior to catch the last rays of the sunset. It was very beautiful & a little chilly.

All in all another very good family outing!

I'm so happy you had such a good time at the Applefest! This has been such a beautiful autumn, and every one should have the opportunity to get out to enjoy it. I think your kids are adorable! And I like your photos! What a treat for the eyes - the fall color and the glorious sunset.
