Mother's Day - nearly a week late...


Dahlia gave me this little plant that she planted at daycare for Mother's Day (I think it's marigolds...not 100% sure). It has a photo of her inside the card too. Oh the sweet gift's from your child.

Steve, Dahlia & August gave me a gift certificate for a hair cut at my salon & a fabulous bottle of wine. :) We also went to Grizzly's for dinner - thankfully (I needed to get out of the house at that point).

And our first outside-the-hospital family photo...self portrait taken in our backyard. If I didn't have so many wrinkles I would say this is quite a nice photos...*sigh*

and only in the city of Duluth would a backyard photo look like you guys were in the middle of a 100-acre wood.

Love the photo. You look amazing. And I've come to see my wrinkles as a testament to my love of the outdoors and my penchant for smiling. Embrace them!

and IT'S A GIRL!! I'll do a proper introduction later and the whole story and everything but in the meantime, we had a baby girl. 2:15pm on Friday afternoon (I posted at, what? 10;30am? You do the math!!). Her name is Dahlia Marie and she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs even. 19 1/4" long and so incredibly gorgeous (although, I might be a wee bit biased). The birth was the most amazing experience I've ever been through and my mind is still, well, blown, quite frankly. I am so tired though...time for a quick nap before we try to feed again.

Privacy, please!

Well, the time has come. After 6 1/2 years (!?) Naturally Optimistic will be going private at the start of the new year. If you are interested in still reading my INCREDIBLY exciting posts & commenting on my cute children, email me & I will put you on the invite list.
