Got my first OB bill from appt #1....

It basically lists all the "professional" charges which includes 13 blood tests/urinalysis + of course the needle for said blood test.

Pending insurance......


*drumroll please*

$939!!

Good God, I hope Steve's insurance kicks ass on this one.

**note: this does not include the ultrasound I also had that day!

Having worked for the hospital for two and a half years now and the fear of "fraud." I would like to state for the record that EVERY SINGLE BILL includes some sort of fraud. Like charging you $100 for a fifty cent needle.

The needle was listed as $17 which seems expensive but at least is not $100! Sheesh!

isn't it crazy. I was high risk and my baby from start to finish was 100k! No lie! Thankfully, we had good insurance and only had to pay a few grand at the most.

and IT'S A GIRL!! I'll do a proper introduction later and the whole story and everything but in the meantime, we had a baby girl. 2:15pm on Friday afternoon (I posted at, what? 10;30am? You do the math!!). Her name is Dahlia Marie and she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs even. 19 1/4" long and so incredibly gorgeous (although, I might be a wee bit biased). The birth was the most amazing experience I've ever been through and my mind is still, well, blown, quite frankly. I am so tired though...time for a quick nap before we try to feed again.

Privacy, please!

Well, the time has come. After 6 1/2 years (!?) Naturally Optimistic will be going private at the start of the new year. If you are interested in still reading my INCREDIBLY exciting posts & commenting on my cute children, email me & I will put you on the invite list. Like I said - it won't happen for another couple weeks, but there ya go. Time to make a change.
