The Screaming
Someday I'll stop posting about my daughter's inability to sleep & the screaming. But today's not the day!
New developments from the house of NO SLEEP. Now instead of going to bed awesomely on a very regular basis, she NEVER goes to bed! Not only does she NOT go to bed, she still wakes up in the middle of the night! She still will not sleep in her crib and she still screams for hours and hours. It's getting worse! I guess be careful what you complain about, eh?
Last night she cried, no, screamed, from the time we put her down (just after eight) until almost 10 o'clock. Steve or I would go in every 15 minutes or so to "comfort her" (fat lot that did) and she was incredibly CLINGLY, grabbing on for dear life. What is going on? Finally nearish to ten I got her up and brought her downstairs WHERE she was happy as a lark. Playing with Beavis, climbing on us, requesting Baby Einstein videos (declined).
I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed. So much for any "me" time yesterday. I said fine, Mommy's going to bed...and brought her up with me...and it was STILL a struggle. Finally FINALLY she passed out close to eleven.
She rotated and kicked and hit me all night - fun! I think she got better sleep than I did but at least we both got *some*. Beavis woke me up at 5am. Awesome. Dahlia wanted to get up at 6 to which I replied, um, NO. And finally she fell back asleep and slept til 8:30. I was able to get up, take a shower, etc while she slept.
Now, she's exhausted. She's super crabby (and guess who forgot her nook at home? yup! me!)...she's screaming. She's in the conference room (otherwise known as her nap/changing room) and just screaming. I feel great. I hope that everyone in the building can hear her. That'd be awesome.
*sigh*
It's getting to be too much. I know this is a phase and it won't last forever but MY GOD. The new "attitude" coupled with the refusal o f sleep is enough to put me over the edge.

seriously, sorry to hear of the troubles. i hope little miss assertive will settle down soon....
Good luck, hon. Sleep whenever possible. Everything else can wait.
Here's hoping that whatever milestone Dahlia is coming up on (and it sounds like she might be using full sentances or paragraphs based on her degree of growing pains) will come soon!
