Sick Baby

I think my baby is sick. She sounds like she has a lot of snot and i can't just tell her to "blow." She also has a wee cough which breaks my heart to hear. There wasn't much in the sleeping department last night...For either of us. I don't know if I should take her in or not. This is all new to me. I don't know if there's anything you can do for a baby with a head cold. I called the nurse and am waiting for a call back.

Always good to call. I'll be thinking about you!
From what all my friends with children say/do Kate is right, ALWAYS call. Your doctor office is there for you and these types of calls.

Well, there's nothing we can do. we just have to wait it out. :( Poor thing. She sounds so pitiful with all her snuffling. :(

Well, keep yourself well! And give her an extra kiss from me.

My suggestions for caring for a sick baby: use nasal saline drops to help loosen up the snot, use the nasal syringe to help suck out snot, get a humidifier in her room if you don't have one (we use Kate's ALL the time, and I swear it's partially why she hasn't been sick much this winter). We would also put towels under the head end of her crib mattress to prop her up a bit to help the snot drain at night.

Good luck, hon. We're still planning on coming up this weekend so I can at least commiserate in person!!

Cello Mama is right! That is what we have used the last two winters and Boo Boo is always better quick!

ALSO, Baby Vicks! rub on feet and chest...it is much less "mentholly" than regular vicks and safe for babies.

I have to admit: I really miss the nose syringe. Those things were so fun to use & I loved to see the babes breathe so much better afterwards. Now my kids just pick their nose & wipe it on the wall, apparently...

I got called at work to pick up my Scooter baby at school today. The sickies are going around BIG time this week. No fun! Hugs to Dahlia (and you!)

I'm not the first to say it, but we use a warm mist humidifier and use my college year books to prop up one end of her crib for drainage.
